Volunteering Winner - The Heather Club 3.jpg

We are delighted to be awarded the DBC Community Volunteering Award which recognised the outstanding work of our volunteer team in supporting our members during the pandemic. We are so grateful to have such an amazing team of volunteers who rose to the challenge of supporting our members during these unprecedented times and the support of DBC to fund this work.

The club was voted the Best Dementia Care Centre 2020 – Dacorum by Global Health & Pharma under its annual Social Care awards

The Heather Club wins Tesco Community Grant Award!

The Heather Club are delighted to announce that we have won 1st place in the Tesco Community Grants Award.

Thank you so much to Tesco and Groundwork along with all those who voted and supported us during the process.

We look forward to sharing updates on our 40th anniversary event, allowing us the opportunity to invite the local community to find out more about what we do at The Heather Club along with reaching out to new members (and their carers) living with dementia who may be in need of our support.

We are delighted to announce that The Heather Club was one of eight highly commended entries for The National Day of Arts in Care Homes .

The NAPA team particularly loved our 'Little People' art project and how we encouraged our members to share their stories through the medium of art.

A huge thank you to First Mummies' Club for volunteering to run these sessions at the club and to the team at NAPA National Activity Providers Association and Arts in Care Homes for hosting these awards.

Heather Club at Home!

During COVID 19, we launched our outreach programme with doorstep visits to our members delivering Advent Calendars and having a chat! Thank you to our funders The National Lottery and The Shanly Foundation for making it easier to spread a little cheer and stay connected.

The club received some lovely comments from members following the delivery of 22 Advent Calendars.

'Thank you so much' was the general response at the front doors
One member B'' got her partner to phone to say thank you, she is so grateful and excited at receiving the calendar

The daughter of a member 'A' said she loves the calendar and "I think mum has a chocolate for breakfast"

'J' another said "What a nice thought"

Another 'J' said "Ohh that is so nice"
